Workers at the Humayun's Tomb Restoration

These workers were making a new stone jali and other pieces to replace worn or damaged original stone work. A simple forge was in place on the ground and the coals kept hot with a foot bellows. They made or repaired their tools right on site. The men used simple tools -- hammer and small chisels -- to make the new pieces. It is an incredible work and done one completely without any power tools. This could not be done in America! These workers all wanted their pictures taken doing the work, so we complied.
